It was a December to remember for the Phoenix Coyotes. The Coyotes finished the month of December with a 10-2-3 record as Ilya Bryzgalov recorded two shutouts to his impressive five shutouts. Bryzgalov posted an 8-2-3 record with a 1.82 goals against average (GAA) and a .939 save percentage (SV%). For his efforts in net, the NHL named Bryzgalov as the second star of the month for December. This is the second time this season the NHL has honored Bryzgalov for player of the month recognition. Back in October, Bryzgalov was named third star of the month after the Coyotes shocked the league by posting a 9-4 record which tied the Coyotes record for most wins in a month.
