Jeff Carter and Mike Richards scored power play goals just 22 seconds apart, and Ray Emery turned away 28 shots in his Philadelphia debut, leading the Flyers to a 2-0 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday at the RBBC Center.
Emery looked poised in his first regular season action since the 2007-'08 season when he was with Ottawa, but he didn't do it by himself. The Flyers played a sound game in front of him, forcing the majority of Carolina's opportunities to the outside.
In his last three appearances against the Hurricanes, Emery has blanked them three consecutive times. Razor has nine career shutouts, and the last Flyers goalkeeper who posted a shutout in his first game with the team was back in 2003 when Jeff Hackett held the Sabres scoreless on Oct. 9th.
