According to Steve Zipay and Newsday , the Rangers did not extend an offer sheet to center Erik Christensen.
Christensen, who was claimed off of waivers from Anaheim last season, had eight goals and 26 points in 49 games with the Rangers. Aside from Vinny Prospal, who has also yet to been given an offer to stay with the team, Christensen developed chemistry with sniper Marian Gaborik on the top line, something the Rangers need from a center for next season.
The negative side to Christensen's game is inconsistency. He would score a few goals, then not score for weeks, something that a top-six forward cannot go through.
On the other side of the coin, his speed and skill opened up the ice for his line-mates, creating more opportunities in the offensive zone.
