Pittsburgh Penguins General Manager Ray Shero opened the trade deadline madness by acquiring defenseman Jordan Leopold from Florida in exchange for a second-round draft pick in the 2010 draft. Leopold is a 29-year-old 6'1", 200 pound left-handed shooter. He has put up 18 points thus far this season with seven goals and 11 assists.
A local blogger associated with one of the local newspapers said this wasn't a great move and that it may be a sign of someone heading out before Wednesday's deadline. The acquisition of Leopold added a physical defenseman to the Penguins' blue line thus fulfilling one of their objectives.
