The Nashville Predators' goal for the 2009-2010 season is simple: make the playoffs.
The last three years it has taken 91, 91, and 96 points to claim the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference.
The Predators need to strive for at least 100 points to eliminate any need for a late-season push.
With the victory at Dallas on Saturday, the Preds have 12 games remaining for the month. If they can end the month of October with at least 16 points, then they should be sitting pretty in the playoff picture.
The key is always going to be home games, with six this month. The Preds need at least nine points out of those contests.
The Preds have three games against division rival Chicago Blackhawks, which should give them a fair idea how they stand in the very tough Central Division.
