As always is the case for the National Hockey League's captor of the President's Trophy, given annually to the top regular season club, the Washington Capitals and general manager George McPhee had to wait a while in Los Angeles' famed Staples Center before making their first selection at 26th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Three-and-a-half hours passed, McPhee watching the NHL's other general managers add new toys to their respective shelves. When it was finally Washington's turn, his joy for one player remaining on the board was clear as day.
