With a 3-2 shootout win over Montreal on Saturday night, the Maple Leafs have moved to 7-2-1 since the trade deadline, and they are only four points behind three eastern conference opponents. With the possibility of passing these teams and giving Boston a lower pick, this upcoming week will be huge for the Leafs.
Leafs rookie, Jonas Gustavsson, recorded his fifth straight win Saturday night. Besides a weak goal given up to Brian Gionta in the dying minute of the first period, Gustavsson was rock solid.
Since Giguere has been traded to Toronto, Gustavsson has a 5-1 record, including the fluke loss against New Jersey, in which Toronto surrendered three goals in the last five minutes.
