As of Monday night, Martin Brodeur tied Terry Sawchuck for the most shutouts of all time. He did it against that Buffalo Sabres while facing 22 shots on goal. Brodeur tied Sawchuck with his 103rd shutout, which is twice the amount of Chris Osgood who is second among active players. He's also played in a little bit over 1,000 games. Over his career, he averaged a shutout every 10 to 11 games. I don't think that Brodeur had much trouble getting this shutout either. There really weren't a lot of quality shots that he had to block. The defense did a great job keeping the puck away from him and limiting the scoring chances for Buffalo. There isn't anyone that will say that he doesn't deserve this record.
