I would hate to find out what it's like to get hit by 6'3", 240 pounds of beef. Many players in the NHL have lived to tell such a tale. Chances are these players can't talk about it without grimacing. This style of play has earned San Jose Sharks' defenseman Douglas Murray the nickname "Crankshaft," or "Cranky" for short. Is there really a more fitting nickname for anyone in the league? Arguably not. Unless I'm living in an alternate universe, you probably don't hear Murray's name very often during NHL highlights.
