The Detroit Red Wings haven't not won a Central Division since the 1999-2000 season. That was won by the St. Louis Blues.
For the last nine years, the Detroit Red Wings have taken the Central Division, and usually by huge margins. This year has been different as we all know that A) They are not first in Central and B) have battled the injury bug like never before. But yet, they find themselves just eight points back of the first place Chicago Blackhawks with six games remaining, and currently riding a six game winning streak.
Taking nothing away from the Hawks, they have played some amazing hockey this year (aside from the last month since the Olympic break) and find themselves the chance of being the first team since that 99-00 Blues team to win the Division.
