In honor of Father's Day, I find it fitting to praise my dad for many reasons: love, care, nurturing, and of course, inheriting his sports teams. The one that always brought us closer was the Chicago Blackhawks.
To this day, whenever the Hawks are on, we watch them together (if possible). Chores need to be done? Garbage need to go out? Can't do it, Hawks are on.
Since the mid to early 1990's, I have soaked in all that my dad knew of the team, and started to learn on my own about them so I could develop my base for future fandom.
One quality he always taught about family and sports was to know your history. I took that to heart, as the foundation of the Blackhawk franchise bridged us to today, now the hometown of the Stanley Cup.
