Assistant General Manager Jim Nill is hopeful the Detroit Red Wings' higher-than-usual 21st pick will yield a solid player, but he's also realistic.
"When you pick a little bit higher, it just gives you an opportunity to get a player that you otherwise might not be able to get," said Nill. "In a perfect world, we want somebody who's 6'4" and fast and skilled, but we know that's probably not going to happen. That's probably in the top ten that that's going to happen. But, we're going to get somebody whose got two of those three traits."
As for the position Detroit would like to fill with the 21st pick, Nill said they were more interested in getting the best player they can, regardless of the position.
