With so many teams running the base 3-4 defense, there's been a higher demand for pass-rushing outside linebackers than ever before. Since most colleges use a 4-3 package, though, teams end up evaluating the defensive ends who have played outside linebacker a little in college, and who could translate well as outside linebackers at the professional level.
