The San Diego Chargers are reportedly set to sign free agent defensive lineman Alfonso Boone today to replace injured nose tackle Jamal Williams, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune and ESPN.com.
A nine-year veteran out of Mt. San Antonio College, Boone started 18 games in seven years with the Chicago Bears, registering 10.5 sacks in that time.
He spent the last two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, and reportedly chose to come to the Chargers over the Carolina Panthers due to his familiarity with defensive coordinator Ron Rivera and defensive line coach Don Johnson, for whom he played in Chicago.
