This isnÆt a surprise. The Oakland Raiders have franchised defensive lineman Richard Seymour to the tune of $12.398 million for next year.
Even if it was stupid to trade for a ôright nowö type of player when your team isnÆt remotely close to ôwinning now,ö it would have just compounded the problem if they had let him walk after a year.
We didnÆt understand the trade then and we still donÆt. And that includes you too, New England Patriots. The Patriots are built to win now, their defense is sub-standard and the draft pick they got (first rounder in 2011) canÆt help for quite a while.
That was a remarkably stupid move, but we arenÆt allowed to say that out loud because the great Bill Belichick did it.
