Antonio Pierce, a linebacker who played for NFC East rivals in the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants, retired on Thursday after being cut from the Giants.
Pierce was an undrafted free-agent in 2001 and signed with the Redskins that same year.
He didn't played much in his tenure with the Redskins until his fourth and final year with Washington, 2004, where he started all 16 games and recorded 112 tackles (85 solo), one sack, and two interceptions.
Pierce later signed with the Giants in the '05 off-season as a free-agent, and he had a solid career in New York.
He made an instant impact in the defense after being called the captain and had 99 tackles before an injury sidelined him for the last three games of the season.
