The New York Giants have made former Arizona Cardinals' safety Antrel Rolle the highest paid safety in the history of the NFL, signing him to a 5-year, $37-million dollar deal late Friday evening.
The move gives Rolle a change of scenery, away from the dry, hot, desert climate of Arizona.
He was released by the Cardinals as one of the top safeties available on the free agent market.
The Giants led the way in attempting to recruit him and early rumors indicated the Pro-Bowl selection was leaning toward the New York franchise.
Rolle recorded 61 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 4 interceptions in 2009.
He will add speed to a New York Giants defense that ranked 15th last year in passing defense, giving up an average of 214 yards per game.
