With an ailing backfield and an anemic running game through five games, the Green Bay Packers have reunited with an old star, signing veteran and six-year Packer Ahman Green from free agency.
Green, a free agent after two uneventful years with the Houston Texans, signed a one-year deal with Green Bay and will be on the practice field today, according to Packers beat writer Greg A. Bedard.
Green was drafted in the third round (76th overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks, and while Green produced a high yards-per-rush average (6.0 in 1998), he had difficulty earning significant playing time behind established veteran Rickey Watters.
