It looks like Craig Steltz may very well be poised to finally make his debut as a Bear at strong safety, with starter Kevin Payne doubtful for Monday night's game against the Viking'sádue to a ankle injury.
Steltz was a fourth-round pick in 2008 who's never started a game, comes off of being inactive the last four weeks and basically used exclusively on special teams.
Yeah, he has seen some play at safety, butáwith any youngáplayer there is a learning curve andáwith the amount of playing time he gets.
How can you judge his playing?
To be fair you can't.
Steltz played his college ball at LSU where, because of his kamikaze-style hits late in games, heáenabled LSU to be able to play for the BCS National Championshipáin 2007.
