On the heels of his breakthrough performance on Sunday night against the Chargers, Rashard Mendenhall has given the Steelers something to think about.
With Willie Parker sidelined by turf toe, Mendenhall took the reins of an offense that was destined to become his when the Steelers drafted him in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
However, MendenhallÆs journey to this point has been all but an ascension to glory.
He talked trash as a rookie, and the Ravens punished him for it, sending him to injured reserve. Could not beat out Parker for the starting job in training camp this summer. Has struggled with fumbles and pass protection. Was criticized as recently as last week for his game-week preparation.
