Now that the quarterback competition is over, the Cleveland Browns can finally move forward with Brady Quinn. As of Wednesday, he was named the starting quarterback for the Browns for the season opener against the Vikings.
Most of the Browns fans are happy and expected Quinn to be the guy. Many are also thinking that he will outperform Brett Favre and then take off to lead the Browns to the playoffs. While that wouldn't surprise me, I think it is important to be realistic in our expectations.
The reality is that, unlike Favre, Quinn doesn't have Adrian Peterson to hand off to. I really don't see the Browns stopping or even slowing him. The defense has to try and make Favre beat it. As crazy as it sounds to make Favre beat you, that is what defenses will have to do.
