Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing has been named Defensive Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press. Cushing becomes the seventh consecutive linebacker to win the award and the second in four years from the Texans, joining DeMeco Ryans from 2006.
The 15th overall pick out of Southern California finished with 134 total tackles, five sacks, four forced fumbles, 10 passes defended and two interceptions.á
Cushing received 39 of 50 possible votes from national writers and broadcasters, ahead of Buffalo Bills safety Jarius Byrd (6), Packers linebacker Clay Matthews III (3) and Redskins linebacker/defensive end Brian Orakpo (2).Read more NFL news on BleacherReport.com ...
