When hiring someone with little-to-no experience, one has to expect an open mind and cooperation from the new hiree. Usually a company will try to mold the fresh face to their liking, hence the advantage of hiring someone with no experience.
So maybe it was his unexpected hiring, his mediocre .500 first season, or his team's remarkable showing in last year's playoff series against the Celtics that made Chicago Bulls Coach Vinny Del Negro think of himself as a wily veteran.
