I guess I owe Larry Bird an apology.
I've questioned almost every move he's made since he became President of Basketball Operations for the Indiana Pacers.
When he traded Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington to Golden State for Troy Murphy and Mike Dunleavy, I thought he was absolutely crazy.
I changed my mind, though, after Murphy and Dunleavy (when healthy) ended up playing well in Indy.
When Bird decided to ship Jermaine O'Neal to Toronto for a package that included Roy Hibbert, I thought he was crazy once again. I remember thinking, "How do you trade a proven All-Star big man for a guaranteed future bust?"
Boy, was I wrong.
It appears that Hibbert isn't going to be a bust like I predicted. And I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he winds up becoming a better player than O'Neal ever was.
