Five hundred fifty-four minutes and 28 seconds into the 2009 season, Bob Friske's (pictured) Oswego State men's soccer team scored their first goal of the year.á Not much had gone right for the Lakers up until that point: Their 0-6 start was the worst in Friske's five-year tenure as head coach, and even the school's athletics website had a hard time polishing the turds results.á
But not much has gone wrong for Oswego State since senior Tony Greene found the the net early in that Sept. 26 SUNYAC match-up at Morrisville to break the lengthy scoreless streak.á The Lakers marched out to a 4-1 lead over the Mustangs with goals from Jim Mertz, Felipe Cavalcanti, and Max Guliani.á Goal keeper Matt Wopperer stopped five shots as Oswego State held on for their firs ...
