Nearing the half point mark of the NBA season the assumed contenders to the league throne have slowly becgan to distance themselves from the competition. The top four, Los Angeles, Boston, Cleveland, and Orlando have remained near the top of the standings for the duration of the season while teams like San Antonio and Denver are starting to assert themselves. During the course of play the best teams have shown an edge in talent, experience, and toughness but all have been exposed to weaknesses in their cores.
