In the most unusual of all negotiating tactics the NBA's referees have decided to lock themselves into their hotel to prove their commitment towards getting a deal done, as reported in a NY Times article by Howard Beck
"The referees are locking themselves in, in an effort to get a deal done as soon as possible,” Lamell McMorris, the referees’ chief negotiator, said.
In most labour disputes when a strike or lock-out seems inevitable many unions members resign themselves to their fate and go home, only showing up to man union mandated picket lines.
Not these guys. All 57 NBA Referees have decided to stay to see this thing through.
