I had a professor that used to say, "If you are not going to contribute anything relevant to the conversation, why waste the energy of opening your mouth?" It seemed like good advice then, and I can think of a few NBA Players that could benefit from it's use, it's not like they're going to say anything profound anyway. The NBA parallels our everyday world, in the fact that we have become a nation of sound bytes. The importance of statements, and their relevance to the game, is crushed beneath a flood of outrageousness, that is either pointless or shallow. The fact that we, as fans, hang onto their drivel, and then dispense it as news offers a glimpse of us as a society.
