The NBA Draft is the greatest equalizer that American professional basketball has to offer. The worst teams of the year select first, replenishing their talent for the future and supposedly setting themselves up to rejoin the game's elite.
And yet the same teams are in the playoffs year after year while the others seem to be stuck in neutral in the lottery. There are a few exceptions to this rule, such as the Thunder and the Blazers, but for the most part there is little turnover from year to year in the playoffs.
