Luke Babbitt slipped all the way down to pick 16 in the NBA Draft. I thought he would have gone to Utah at nine.
Babbitt was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves, but his rights were later traded to Portland for Martell Webster.
Reports say the Blazers will release the player traded with Babbitt, Ryan Gomes. So that leaves just Babbitt for Webster.
I see Babbitt having great success with the Blazers. He will split time at small forward with Nicholas Batum. Babbitt could leapfrog Batum for the starting spot if he impresses in the NBA Summer League.
He can shoot the basketball with the best of them. At Nevada, he shot about 90% from the free throw line and was a sharpshooter from mid-range.
