According to MLB truth and rumors, MLB commissioner Bud Selig is considering moving the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox to the AL Central to increase competition. This way, both teams would be able to make the playoffs as well as a team like the Rays, who are stuck behind these two powerhouses each year.
Would splitting up one of the biggest rivalries in sports be beneficial?
While it would make it easier for the better teams to make it to the playoffs, teams in the AL central like the White Sox and Indians who do not have the payroll that either the Yankees or Red Sox, would not make the playoffs as frequently.
