MLB Trade Rumors has reported that the New York Yankees are interested in former Boston Red Sox reliever Brandon Lyon.
Lyon, a Type B free agent, formerly of the Detroit Tigers, posted a 2.86 ERA with a WHIP of 1.11, and a record of 6-5 last season. The Tigers offered him arbitration, which means that Detroit will get a supplemental draft pick if Lyon sign anywhere other than Detroit.
Lyon, 30, spent his 2003 campaign with the Boston Red Sox. He was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates mid-season, then traded back to the Red Sox a week later.
He was part of the trade to the Arizona Diamondbacks to get Curt Schilling prior to the 2004 season. He did not appear in a game with Arizona until 2005, and stayed with the D-Backs until after the 2008 season. He then signed with th ...
