The Toronto Blue Jays announced yesterday that they have signed 20-year-old Cuban shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria to a four-year, $10 million contract. The breakdown of the contract is as follows: 2010: $500,000 2011: $2 million 2012: $1.75 million 2013: $1.75 million The deal also includes a $4 million signing bonus. The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim were also interested in signing Hechavarria. Hechavarria is most compared to Alfonso Soriano. As much as I am not a fan of Soriano, I think the Blue Jays will definitely take that.
