The 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck in the closing minutes of a scheduled practice at PETCO Park Sunday before boarding a plane to Phoenix for today’s Opening Day game against Arizona.
After closing out the 2009 campaign with a 35-27 record, the Padres continued their impressive play into spring training action. San Diego stole 49 bases this spring and posted a 2.55 ERA while going 11-1-1 over the final 14 games of the exhibition season.
