ItÆs been a bad day so far for baseball GMÆs.
First, it was JP Ricciardi getting the ax in Toronto this morning and now it is Kevin Towers.
The San Diego Padres announced today they will not bring back Towers as GM in 2010.
Towers has spent 14 seasons as the PadresÆGM and they have won four division titles and made one World Series appearance (1998) under his stewardship.
CEO Jeff Moorad has called a press conference today at 2:00 PT to announce the move.
The only question I have isùhow fast is Towers going to get another job if he wants to work next year? One second? Maybe two seconds?
Towers can be the GM of my team any day of the week and twice on Sunday. He knows how to get the job done.
