Philadelphia Phillies slugger Ryan Howard will remain with the club through the 2016 season after agreeing to a five year contract extension on Monday worth $125 million. Howard's new contract includes standard award bonuses and grants him with the right to name a small list of teams that the Phillies could potentially trade him to. In addition, Howard will have full trade-veto rights in May 2015. The former National League Most Valuable Player is one of only four players to hit 40 home runs and have over 130 RBIs in four consecutive seasons. The contract extension will make Howard the second highest paid player in the major leagues behind Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees with an average salary of $25 million a year.
