The Yankees-Red Sox rivalry is one of the biggest in sports, and as the two teams are getting closer to a possible 2004 rematch, it is hard to imagine the showdown becoming more intense.
It seems that the rivalry may have spilled over into the writers thanks to beat reporter Peter Abraham of the Journal News. Abraham, who is originally from the Massachusetts area, recently took a job with the Boston Globe and will cover and blog the Red Sox next season.
The other beat writers mostly understand the move. Abraham went from a smaller suburban newspaper to a much larger daily out of Boston, and he presumably got some sort of a raise. In an age of shrinking newspapers and a struggling economy, job security is becoming ever more important.
