First off, I don't fully understand the redshirt rules. I thought you were able to participate in a few plays (like less then 10 percent) in the non-Big Ten season and still keep your redshirt status.
The NCAA Web site says something completely different: You should know that NCAA rules indicate that any competition, regardless of time, during a season counts as one of your seasons of competition in that sport.
