Remember how there was a possibility that Houston could make a major trade or signing to boost their starting rotation come Opening Day?
Well, that option appears to have occurred late Friday when the Astros signed free-agent right-hander Brett Myers to a one-year deal.
Myers, who made $12.1 million last season with Philadelphia, went 4-3 in 2009 with a 4.84 ERA (over a span of 18 games and 10 starts).
According to Houston beat writer Brian McTaggart, sources told MLB.com the Myers one-year deal is worth $5 million with an option for 2011.
With the latest addition to the team, the Astros starting trio rotation will include Roy Oswalt, Wandy Rodriguez, and Myers, with Bud Norris, Felipe Paulino, and Brian Moehler likely battling it out for the final two spots.
