The day is nearly over and I think it would be polite to wish a happy birthday to former Tigers slugger, Cecil Fielder. Fielder is better known now as the dad of Prince Fielder, but back in the day, Cecil was the premier slugger in baseball. He did most of his damage in Detroit while with the Tigers.
Fielder, 46, spent six and a half seasons with the Tigers and was named the 27th best Tiger of all-time by this website last winter.
One of the nice things about Fielder’s game was that it was so simple. He slugged. He walked a ton, struck out even more, and hit some of the longest home runs balls in the long history of Tiger Stadium.
