Over the first week of the season, the Rays have felt the loss of one of the best setup men in baseball. The left-handed J.P. Howell put out many fires for the team in the past two seasons. Now that he's on the DL, the fires are raging. In the series finale against the Yankees, the first litmus test of many in the season, James Shields gave up one run in 5.1 IP. The bullpen gave up six runs in 3.2 IP. For the Rays to try to overtake New York or Boston, they will need a bullpen to hold leads.
