Miles away from the cozy comforts on Blake Street, Colorado Rockies management is busy trying to keep the club in contention for the upcoming 2010 campaign.
With the Winter Meetings underway in Indianapolis, the Rockies brass have swung into motion by making a couple of roster moves and are working to sign some key pieces to the 2009 playoff run.
Right out of the gate the Rockies sold the contract of outfielder Matt Murton to the Hanshin Tigers in Japan. This frees up space and will allow for Ryan Spilborghs to work as a top four outfielder for the Rockies all season long.
The Rockies have also retained Right handed set-up man Rafeal Betancourt, who accepted arbitration from the Rockies at the end of the week.
