Apparently Gardner was sore. As best as can be determined, his derriere was sore from sitting on the bench.
It is inexplicable that Gardner, who was declared the starting left fielder, has now been benched in half of the Yankees' first four games.
After telling the whole world on the Joe Girardi Show that he intended to try to put the same team on the field every day, Girardi proved last night that he doesn't have a clue how to go about doing that.
Gardner started games one and three in the opening series against Boston and played very well. He got into game two as a pinch hitter (of all things).
