Posted: 21st June 2010 by Ryan Steck in NFL
Hey everyone! I've created a fantasy football league on ESPN.com, and now I need to find 20 people who are interested in going head-to-head against me this year.
Fellow Detroit Lion Featured Columnist Dean Holden, is also a member of the league. So if you have what it takes to take on both of us, we welcome the challenge. Of course bragging rights will go to the winner, ...
Mike Shanahan’s Top Five Improvements Of Washington Redskins
Posted: 21st June 2010 by Adam Hankins in NFL
Rebuilding?
What rebuilding? Mike Shanahan has taken the reins of the Washington Redskins, and he has already made a major overhaul. The Redskins of 2010 will bear little resemblance to the unit that took the field in 2009. Of course, considering the disaster of last year, that's a very good thing.
The following slide show is a list of the most important changes Shanahan has made thus far.Begin Slideshow
As social media has become an increasingly important part of the professional sports landscape, so too has the way in which fans interact with their favorite players.
In the past, fans were relegated to catching soundbites of their favorite players on the nightly news, or through an article filed by the team's beat reporter.
Technology has changed (for better or for worse) and the distance between the news makers and the news ...
Bad Luck Continues For Panthers: Steve Smith Reportedly Breaks Arm Again
Posted: 21st June 2010 by Matt Miselis in NFL
It seemed that the Carolina Panthers were starting off on a high note.
The pressure is on for the entire team this year. The head coach is on the hot seat, a quarterback is waiting in the wings (Jimmy Clausen), and with a potential lockout next season, people are fighting for jobs.
Now, the Panthers has a problem on their hands (doesn't happen often), once again being with star receiver Steve Smith.
According ...
1983 LA Raiders: Fourth Best Team in the ’80s Bull Market Era
Posted: 21st June 2010 by Tim McGhee in NFL
I’ll say this: If the 1983 Raiders are the fourth best team in the 1982-1987 Bull Market Era, the other three must have been coached by Saint Peter with Moses as the offensive line.
But Raiders fans instead have Al Davis: owner; president; play caller; iconoclast; baby, just win, baby, because Al has an unparalleled commitment to excellence and, in the early '80s, was the scourge of Alameda County.
No matter how insufferably weird ...
Roger Craig Optimistic about San Francisco 49ers’ 2010 Prospects
Posted: 21st June 2010 by Joseph Burkey in NFL
Roger Craig, the legendary 49ers running back from the golden years of San Francisco football, recently confirmed that his glass is half full.
Nancy Gay reported via fanhouse.com that Craig, who was at Infineon Raceway to act as the Grand Marshal for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 Sprint Cup final this weekend, strongly projects the 49ers to make the playoffs in 2010.
"The 49ers will be a playoff team this season. ...
Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers fractured his left arm while playing flag football over the weekend.
Combine this with his recent comments about wanting to be a No.2 WR after tiring of being the focus of the opponent every week, and this story may be bigger than you think.
While he will likely be back for Week One, this is going to give some players some valuable reps in camp. You ...
Donald Penn Gets Apology from Tampa Bay Buccaneers GM

You can almost imagine something akin to the scene from the first Rocky movie, when the aged Mick is praising Rocky, telling him how great he is, how much he reminds him of another Rocky, Rocky Marciano.
Of course, Mick had found out that Rocky was about to fight for the heavyweight championship with Apollo Creed. He groveled and praised Rocky, to which Rocky simply responded:
"Yeah, but I ain't got no locker."
Perhaps ...
Jammal Brown and Dallas Cowboys: Was Their Interest Real?
Posted: 21st June 2010 by Jonathan Bales in NFL
There is certainly a ton of mystery surrounding the Cowboys’ offensive tackle position.
Current starting left tackle Doug Free has very little experience at the position, having backed up Marc Colombo at right tackle last season. He did an admirable job filling in and his skill set is probably better suited for left tackle anyway, but the question mark remains.
Colombo was solid (but not spectacular) at ...
Steve Smith Breaks Arm Playing Flag Football, Undergoes Surgery
Posted: 21st June 2010 by Shaun Ahmad in NFL
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith broke his arm and underwent surgery last night.
How did he break his arm?
Playing flag football, of course.
In his defense, it was during his annual football camp, and it seems to be a freak injury.
He is expected to be back on the field by the start of the regular season, though the Panthers have not issued any formal announcement or timetable ...
