Continuing my positional rankings for the decade that was, cornerbacks are now up.
Lots of very good candidates for this one.
There are a couple of different types of corners: great coverage guys who shut their guys down for most of the game, ball hawks who make up space while the ball is in the air and do a good job getting their hands on it and good tacklers who ...
Tom Lewand’s DUI: Why Do I Not Know How To Feel About This?
Posted: 28th June 2010 by Dean Holden in NFL
It's strange. Normally I'd have something to say here.
And, well, I do. Lots of things, actually. But they all contradict one another, and taken together, they make no sense.
Still, here we go anyway.
I have, in this very space, started writing (and subsequently stopped, deleted, and re-started) at least four or five articles about Tom Lewand's DUI arrest—the Detroit Lions' President was charged with Friday after failing two field sobriety ...
Who Can Salvage the 2010 Season For the Pittsburgh Steelers?
Posted: 28th June 2010 by jake winiecki in NFL
With the much publicized 4-6 game suspension of Ben Roethlisberger, the loss of super bowl MVP Santonio Holmes, and the recent news of the loss of starting Right Tackle Willie Colon for the season with a torn Achilles, the Steelers look to be in shambles.
The typically stable franchise is now seeming to fall apart at the seams. After winning the Superbowl two years ago, they missed the ...
As July approaches, teams are gearing up for training camp and the 2010 season. Questions of who will make the cut are on the minds of coaches, players, and fans alike.
So while the offseason continues, let's see who makes the cut to get on the list of top 10 wide receivers in the AFC.Begin Slideshow
Today, the subject is the Carolina Panthers.
Biggest Strength: Running Back
Anytime you have two thousand-yard rushers, you know you have something special. This was a tough call between the offensive line and the rushers, but in the end I went with the running backs.
DeAngelo Williams is a pretty quick rusher who excels when he gets his one-on-one with outside linebackers or corners. Williams often has a series of jukes to ...
The dose makes the poison.
—Paracelsus, mad at his bad fantasy football draft.
Bad draft day picks can poison your fantasy football team quicker than signing Albert Haynesworth to a guaranteed contract.
Don't be the dim Danny Snyder of your league.
Don't draft the fading stars, the fat fellows, anyone with a feral female friend, or a longer criminal record than your average Hollywood child star or Cincinnati Bengal.
Don't draft anyone ...
Oakland Raiders: Taking a Look at the Wide Receiver Competition
Posted: 28th June 2010 by Ezra Ruiz in NFL
The Oakland Raiders had the worst wide receiver corps in the NFL.
Both starting rookies, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Louis Murphy had a case of the dropsies. Chaz Schilens, the most polished wide receiver on the roster, was out for the majority of the season.
This year, Oakland's group looks young, promising, and most importantly healthy.
There should be a big competition at the wide receiver position, but the question is, who starts?
The three ...
Michael Vick Puts Philadelphia Eagles Fans in a Precarious Position
Posted: 28th June 2010 by Will Holt in NFL
I have been near Philadelphia Eagles fans when they smoked weed in the stadium, pissed in sinks, and threw punches at opposing fans and even police officers.
I’m not going to act holier than thou, because I certainly have engaged in less than stellar behavior at many Eagles games.
So what does this have to do with Michel Vick?
Well, when we heard about Vick’s latest incident stating he may be involved in ...
In Israel Idonije's five seasons with the Chicago Bears, his impact on the field has been small. But off the field, the defensive lineman's influence is bigger than any tackle he could make on 4th and goal.
"Izzy" returned to his birth-land in Nigeria for the third straight summer this NFL offseason. While some of his teammates may enjoy luxurious excursions, Idonije puts himself in places to change lives. Typically, those places ...
What Type of Defense Would Work Best For Cincinnati Bengals?
Posted: 28th June 2010 by Kyle Strittholt in NFL
Prior to last season I made the statement that the Bengals should switch to a 3-4 base defense. My argument was that they had more depth and talent at linebacker so it would be more affective in the pass rush.
In years past, the Bengals pass rush has been nonexistent, which was partially the reason they have never been a dominating team.
They were inconsistent, and their strong point used to be ...
