Must be something wrong with my hearing.
Gotta be.á Iá can't begin to fathom what's being said out there.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, yes those 1-8 Tampa Bay Buccaneers could POSSIBLY upset the mighty New Orleans Saints on Sunday?
Wait one minute. These are the "we're really thinking long and hard about a top three draft pick" Buccaneers going up against the "we're totally eyeballing the Super Bowl" Saints.
Not sure this one could ...
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Stunner: Arron Sears Is Back!
Posted: 17th November 2009 by Tom Edrington in NFL
So you think the lose-almost-every-game, quarterback-merry-go-round, lousy-defense-rebuilding, re-tooling season of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can't get any crazier?
Arron Sears is back!
The last we heard of the former offensive lineman, he was sequestered somewhere in Alabama and then was rumored to be seen in Tampa.
He will be seen, sooner or later. The Buccaneers reinstated Sears on Tuesday, according to official team news releases.
Speculation has been that Sears has suffered from depression ...
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Have Hope, but No More Throwback Games
Posted: 10th November 2009 by Tom Edrington in NFL
You loved the "fade back to 1979" orange jerseys. You loved the effort, you loved the result, and you love the fact that there's hope.
What you won't get is another "Orange Sunday" this football season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Bucs were cleared by the NFL offices to wear the old orange for one game.
Want another?
The Buccaneers would have to petition the league office, and Tuesday they said it won't ...
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Win Over Packers “Rings” Loud and Clear
Posted: 8th November 2009 by Tom Edrington in NFL
Amid an old school sea of 1979 Orange on a balmy Sunday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, an iconic superstar was honored and perhaps a new star was born.
Lee Roy Selmon, Tampa's greatest player and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, became the first member of the team's Ring of Honor.
On the field, the Buccaneers passed, ran, defended and special-teamed a ring around the Green Bay ...
Ricky Bell: The Unsung Hero of the 1979 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Posted: 5th November 2009 by Tom Edrington in NFL
Ricky Bell was the first player taken in the 1977 draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He struggled as the team struggled through a 2-12 season that year then a 5-11 record in 1978. But 1979 was magical, and the player unappreciated by Buccaneer fans, suddenly became a hero along with the rest of his teammates. This is the second of a three-part series remembering the backbone of that great ...
Winless has a face.
Disrespect has a face.
This franchise in turmoil known as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has a poster child.
He is Aqib Talib.
You'd hope what WDAE's Steve Duemig reported late last week is not true, but there's no reason to doubt it.
Duemig values his credibility, and he wasn't about to throw out false claims days after the station suspended Dan Sileo for making false claims regarding the team's owners losing ...
His time has come.
No need to mess around any more with Byron or J.J. or anyone else.
It's time to put him on the field.
Raheem Morris has finally put his beat-up range balls back in the bag and has pulled out that sparkling new Titleist Pro-V1.
The Josh Freeman era begins next week. It begins at home against the Green Bay Packers and it begins in the old-era creamsicle orange uniforms that ...
Buccaneers-Patriots: Tampa Bay Can’t Touch New England In London Loss
Posted: 25th October 2009 by Tom Edrington in NFL
While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stood proudly on the sideline of Wembley Stadium Sunday in London, the crowd of 80,000-plus sang "God Save The Queen."
Perhaps they should have sang "God Save The Bucs."
The Queen doesn't need any help.
The Buccaneers need a lot.
There wasn't much these international travelers from Tampa could do as Tom Brady led his Patriots (5-2) to a relatively easy 35-7 victory over the winless lads from Tampa ...
This one is hard to believe, but when you look at what has transpired this season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, maybe it isn't that hard to grasp.
Tampa Tribune sports writer Anwar S. Richardson had a feel-good get-together with coach Raheem Morris this week.
Richardson's story carried the headline: "Confidence still INTACT." The sub-headline declared: "While Morris welcomes criticism, he is focused on building the Buccaneers."
Fine. There's the usual positive Raheem ...
Buccaneers Hope They Can Survive “The Evil Hoodie”
Posted: 21st October 2009 by Tom Edrington in NFL
A word to wise Buccaneers:
Beware the evil hoodie!
Beware of the mad scientist of New England.
Beware of his quarterback, Tom Brady.
Beware of the team that just butt-kicked the Tennessee Titans into the land of 59-0 oblivion.
Yes, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, you best be in the "beware" mode when you head for London on Friday.
It's not bad enough that the Buccaneers are 0-6. It's not bad enough that they have to grab a ...
