2009-’10 Eastern Conference Playoff Team Predictions
Posted: 26th October 2009 by Taylor Smith in NBA
With the NBA's opening night about 48 hours away, it's time to predict how I think the eight playoff teams in each conference will eventually stack up.
Obviously, it's impossible to predict how injuries will affect things, so let's assume that each of the 30 teams is able to make it through the season 100 percent healthy from start to finish.
Here's how I think things will end up in the Eastern ...
It's no secret that the Houston Rockets will be "going small" in 2009.
How small, you ask?
Well, there's a very, very good chance that their starting center on opening night will be six-foot-six Chuck Hayes.
Fortunately for the Rockets, Hayes may be the only 6-foot-6 player in the league more than capable of starting on a frontline.
Why?
Quite simply, Hayes is one of the best post defenders in the entire league.
He's deceptively strong ...
With Monday's roster deadline looming, the Houston Rockets on Thursday cut two of the four necessary players, guards Romel Beck and Garrett Temple.
This comes at no surprise, considering Beck and Temple were two of the four Rockets' players in camp without guaranteed contracts for this season.
One of the other two without a guaranteed deal, big man Pops Mensah-Bonsu and guard Will Conroy, is expected to make the final roster.
Because this ...
Young, Promising Quarterbacks Asserting Themselves All Over NFL

As SI's Peter King touched upon last week, this season we've seen several young quarterbacks begin to assert themselves all around the NFL.

Of the 32 teams in the league, 20 of them have a starting quarterback under the age of 30.á
While the NFL's three best QB's are all 30 or older (Peyton ...
Are the Los Angeles Clippers Better Off Having Lost Elton Brand?
Posted: 10th October 2009 by Taylor Smith in NBA
Let's wind the clocks back exactly 15 months to the day, when it was first reported that power forward Elton Brand would sign a contract with the Philadelphia 76ers rather than the Los Angeles Clippers.á
Just three days prior, point guard Baron Davis had verbally agreed to leave the Golden State Warriors to sign with the Clippers, due in large part to a recruitment effort from Brand himself.
The news of Brand's ...
Look out, Peyton Manning!
Bernard Pollard is coming to a division near you.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Texans have signed the ex-Kansas City Chiefs safety.
Yes, the same Bernard Pollard infamous for ending Tom Brady's 2008 season with an ACL-tearing hit in the first game of the year.
The signing of Pollard fills the roster spot left open by left guard Chester Pitts, who is out for the season following microfracture ...
Allen Iverson Signing Raises Many Questions about the Memphis Grizzlies
Posted: 10th September 2009 by Taylor Smith in NBA
Chris Wallace has had an interesting tenure as General Manager of the Memphis Grizzlies.
His most notable (and most criticized) move came a couple of seasons ago when he traded the franchise's most successful and popular player, Pau Gasol, to the Los Angeles Lakers for spare parts, including Kwame Brown and Javaris Crittenton.
Gasol's younger brother, Marc, was also included in the deal, and had a successful season as a rookie center ...
