Posted: 22nd February 2010 by TAB BAMFORD in NFL
According to ESPN's John Clayton, the San Diego Chargers have released arguably the best offensive player in their franchise's history, LaDainian Tomlinson.
After nine seasons, 12,490 rushing yards, and 153 total touchdowns, Tomlinson will not test free agency for the first time.
Tomlinson's numbers have fallen off in the last two seasons, though, as the future Hall of Famer has dealt with a number of injuries. In 2009, Tomlinson managed only 730 ...
2010 Olympic Hockey: Kane, Backes Keys For USA To Upset Canada
Posted: 19th February 2010 by TAB BAMFORD in NHL
After watching the last few days of Olympic hockey, it has become clear that there are two players on the United States team who are the keys to an upset of Canada on Sunday: David Backes and Patrick Kane.
Backes has been the only skater for the United States who has clearly made a visual impact to the viewing audience in both of the USA's games. He's been the most consistent ...
2010 Winter Olympics: Memo to Pierre Maguire: SHUT UP
Posted: 19th February 2010 by TAB BAMFORD in NHL
On Thursday afternoon, I tried to watch an exciting Olympic hockey game between the United States and Norway. And yet every few minutes, I wanted to either hurt myself, change the channel or break something.
Why? Because Pierre Maguire opened his mouth.
I've been boiling on Maguire for a while now, and VERY rarely do I bring an all-out rant to Bleacher Report, but I've had enough. It needs to be said, ...
On Thursday morning , HockeyBuzz's John Jaeckel (a friend of CommittedIndians and someone we actually respect in the world of rumor filtering) is reporting a new twist to the Huet rumors.
"It (supposedly) involves an Eastern Conference Team (NOT the Islanders, as I had previously theorized), with Huet, Crawford, and a Blackhawk forward going in return for a No. 1 goalie and a defenseman ," says Jaeckel. "The Blackhawk forward is ...

All six Chicago Blackhawks will be in action on Thursday in Vancouver.
The action starts at 2:00 PM, when Patrick Kane and the United States play Norway. Fittingly, the game is scheduled to air on USA.
Norway was the victim of Canada's opening night blow-out, while the US skated to a 3-1 victory over Switzerland. Kane skated well, but failed to score a point in the game, despite leading team USA with ...
Yesterday, there was a lot of discussion about two potential rumors surrounding the Chicago Blackhawks. One was that they are allegedly shopping for a power forward like Keith Tkachuk, the other was a reported deal thatÆs on the table in which Cristobal Huet and prospect Corey Crawford would leave town.
Pure speculation, but could these two rumors be one in the same?
The Chicago Blackhawks are looking for two things right now: ...

Cam Barker Dealt to Minnesota Wild for Johnsson, Leddy
Posted: 12th February 2010 by TAB BAMFORD in NHL
The Cam Barker Era is OVER!
The Blackhawks traded Barker to Minnesota for defenseman Kim Johnsson and the Wild's top pick in the 2009 draft, Nick Leddy.
Leddy is the prize in the deal, a solid young defenseman prospect taken 16th overall in 2009, and was described this way by Hockey's Future: "You’d be hard pressed to find a better, more complete defenseman playing in the Minnesota state high school Class A/AA league this ...
The debate over who was the best post season quarterback in history will never end. Joe Montana? Bart Starr? Troy Aikman? Tom Brady? Terry Bradshaw? Jim McMahon?
OK, maybe not McMahon...
But now that the college football season is over, we can now focus our attention on the pro game. With the playoffs beginning this weekend, let's take a look at the power rankings of the remaining quarterbacks as we head into ...
Five Ways To Clean Up Baseball’s Hall of Fame Voting Fiasco
Posted: 8th January 2010 by TAB BAMFORD in MLB
On Wednesday, the writers made a mockery of the baseball Hall of Fame yet again when they left a handful of worthy players out of the hallowed institution. The most notable player left out was Roberto Alomar, who many talking heads have argued is the finest all-around second baseman of all time.
What makes this an even greater shame is that five writers turned in ballots that were completely blank. ...
