Posted: 18th March 2010 by TAB BAMFORD in NHL
In perhaps the worst officiated game of this season (or any season in the last decade), the Blackhawks lost to the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night. More importantly, they may have lost another defenseman in the process.
Former Blackhawks/current piece of crap James Wisniewski took a premier cheap shot on Brent Seabrook that ended his night in the second period.
TSN’s Bob McKenzie described the hit on Twitter, saying ”Wisniewski’s hit on Seabrook ...
According to the Chicago Tribune , the Chicago Cubs have filed paperwork with the City of Chicago in an effort to erect a huge, "lighted billboard" in left centerfield before Opening Day.
Sources tell the Tribune that the Cubs have asked for permission to build a 360 square foot sign that would rest 72 feet off the ground, likely blocking what has historically been the "Budweiser" roof across the street from the ...

Cristobal Huet will not dress for Wednesday night's game in Anaheim because of the flu, and the Blackhawks have recalled Corey Crawford from Rockford. Given the issues the Blackhawks have had in net this season, should the Hawks start Crawford?
Crawford has been the top goalie prospect in the Blackhawks organization for a couple seasons now, but has found a concrete ceiling over his head with the Hawks having signed veterans ...

Posted: 14th March 2010 by TAB BAMFORD in NHL
On Sunday, the captain of the Washington Capitals, Alexander Ovechkin, took a cheap shot on Blackhawks' defenseman Brian Campbell that appears to have ended Campbell's season.

What follows is a frame-by-frame look at how Ovechkin's hit was cheap ...
NHL league sources are reporting that Blackhawks defenseman Brian Campbell has broken a collarbone and rib and will likely miss the rest of the season, including playoffs, after a cheap shot from Alexander Ovechkin in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Capitals.
The story was initially reported by Hendricks Hockey .
The Blackhawks are now forced to scramble to put together a defensive group behind the already-tired Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook. Niklas ...
Blackhawks-Capitals: Chicago Blows Another Lead, Loses Brian Campbell

Need something to worry about?
The Chicago Blackhawks hosted the league-leading Washington Capitals on Sunday just 20 hours after a devastating loss in Philadelphia.
How the team responded to the loss on the ice in such a short turnaround could have been a strong indication of how the final three weeks of the season could turn out.
Then the Hawks threw everyone a curveball: both Kim Johnsson and Marian Hossa were scratches on Sunday ...
Blackhawks-Flyers: Hawks Collapse, Lose Costly Game In Philly
Posted: 13th March 2010 by TAB BAMFORD in NHL
Circle March 13 on your calendar.
If the Blackhawks lose a Game 6 or 7 in San Jose that keeps them from playing for the Stanley Cup, Saturday’s loss to the Flyers will likely be the cause for that elimination game being played somewhere other than the United Center .
Cristobal Huet played an exceptional game for 57 minutes on Saturday, keeping almost everything the Flyers could throw at him out of ...
On Friday afternoon, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville made a seemingly subtle announcement that could have a significant impact on who will be between the pipes for them in the playoffs.
In light of each goalies recent struggles, culminating with Cristobal Huet's removal against Detroit, the starting job is completely up for grabs. After Antti Niemi's strong performance against the Kings, Quenneville's confidence appeared to be at least teased into favoring the rookie. However, after ...

Posted: 10th March 2010 by TAB BAMFORD in NHL
As the number of games remaining on the schedule continues to shrink, teams will emerge with a great chance to raise their own banner. Other teams will sneak in the back door and steal a playoff spot at the expense of another team.
Not every team has a shot at the Cup, and not every team will even sniff the postseason. But there are some teams we would love to see ...
