Vinny Del Negro’s Best Skill: Holding The Chicago Bulls Back
Posted: 28th October 2009 by TAB BAMFORD in NBA
In my humble, almost 30-year-old opinion, Vinny Del Negro is among the veryáworst head coaches/managers any Chicago team hasáemployed in my lifetime.
Former White Sox skipper Terry Bevington will take that prize until a blind man gets the job. He infamously walked to the mound to remove a pitcher once and called for a right handed reliever; there wasn't a righty warming up. Oops.
Also in the club is former Bulls coach ...

Top 10 Reasons It Ain’t So Bad Being a Chicago Bears Fan
Posted: 27th October 2009 by TAB BAMFORD in NFL
After a frustrating loss in primt time to the Atlanta Falcons followed by a miserable pile of steaming garbage in Cincinnati, the Chicago Bears' fans are struggling for sobriety and sanity.
Jay Cutler's getting picked more than my two-year old son's nose, Matt Forte is going backwards almost as fast as health care reform, and the defense makes swiss cheese look like Fort Knox.
But it's not that bad, Bears fans! Take ...
As the first month of the 2009-10 season comes to a close, the ChicagoáBlackhawks have taken advantage of a weak schedule and built a strong foundation.
Despite Marian Hossa being sidelined, Cristobal Huet having some issues, and now Jonathan Toews and Brent Seabrook missing a couple games, the Hawks have won games they were supposed to in October.
The team and their fans can now look forward to a November schedule thatÆs ...

What better way to begin the Blake Griffin Era for the Clippers than...to not start it.
Sports Illustrated is reporting early Tuesday morning that Griffin, the top pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, has a broken knee cap and could miss as much as the first six weeks of the season.
This news comes just days before the Clippers were set to unveil their top draft pick after an impressive preseason. Now, ...
Maybe some healthy competition is doing the ChicagoáBlackhawks some good.
After a miserable game against Dallas, Chicago coach Joel Quenneville put his goalie on notice that his poor play wasnÆt good enough, especially with Antti Niemi playing well behind him. Cristobal HuetÆs coach wasnÆt the only person questioning his abilities; it seemed that all 20,000 fans in attendance wanted to tell Huet how poorly he was playing.
In his last two starts, ...
First of all, here's a link that will help us establish a proper frame of reference. The sheet attached is from Cot's Baseball Contracts, a valuable source for contract information for baseball players. It breaks down the 2010 financial obligations of the Chicago Cubs.
According to this breakdown, the Cubs are already obligated to $119 million in 2010, a number that's down from the nearly $135 million it reached this past ...

Posted: 26th October 2009 by TAB BAMFORD in NHL
For the first couple weeks of the season, it was Jack Skille burning up the roads between Rockford and Chicago. Now, it looks like Jake Dowell has become the in between man.
Because of the ChicagoáBlackhawks Æsalary cap situation, the Hawks have been running a shuttle between their minor league affiliate in Rockford and the United Center between games all season. Dowell, who made his first appearance of the season ...

Reports out of Florida and Chicago are that investors in Naples, FL will propose a move of the Cubs' Spring Training facilities from Mesa, AZ to Naples as soon as 2013 to Tom Ricketts.
The Cubs existing contract, a 25-year lease in Mesa, expires in 2016, but the Cubs can buy out of the deal after 2012 for a reported $4.2 million.

This is a photo I snapped on my Blackberry this spring, after Martin Havlat scored an unbelievable game-winning goal in overtime to defeat the Calgary Flames in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Havlat played three seasons for the Chicago Blackhawks, coming in with all the promise of a rising star in the league taking a chance on a struggling franchise. His red hair and beard made him the ...
